Hands

This poem was submitted to a father/son/mother/daughter writing contest.  While it didn't win, show or place it did have a nice review or two so I thought why not put it up here?

Hands
Small and soft
Pudgy little fingers
Wrapped around a finger
Wrapped around a heart
Grimy little fingers
Longer now
Holding out a flower
A gift and a smile
Grown longer still
Nails tipped in colors
Sparkles and jewels
Soon to be a lady
Fingers strong
Flying over keys
Working hard
Every day
Growing thinner now
Skin not so plump
Scars from living
Easy to see
Age slowly showing
Veins clear now
Knuckles losing flexibility
But still strong
Time passes
Suddenly you see
Your mother's hands
Attached to you
Hands that look old
But filled with character
Reaching back to hold
The fingers of a grandchild

poetry day again

Yeah why not right?  This is an older one

Brown is the grass
grey the skies
cold are the days
spent without you

Simple the longing
tender the need
but empty the arms
since you left me

daily poem

    A song in the distance

    Distance
    between you and I
    between love and life
    music bridges the gap

    A song
    reminding me of you
    bringing you close
    behind my closed eyes

poem of the day two

    A Piece of you

I so want to see you
    be close to you
    hold your eyes with mine
    and see myself alone

    One day of you
    no one else to claim
no one else to pull away
    just a piece of you

For even when I have you
you find something else to do
    someone more important
    something more fun

    I sit back, tears forming
    from hurt and from rage
for I try not to ask
for more than a piece of you.

why not poems?

Okay I have to use this blog for something.  So why not toss around a few of the numerous poems I have written over the years?  Yes at some point I will be publishing them but at the earliest that would be February so here we go.  I'm just going to start with A and work my way down.

A difference

Mother
a name for love
daughter
a name for hope

Mother in law
a name for pride
daughter in law
a name for patience

trying to decide what to do

Since I decided to let my mind rest after finishing the first full draft of Nightmares  I decided to look into three of the hundred or so waiting stories I have.  Now I have a problem.  Should I work on "Whether to Save Face or Family", "The Price of Freedom" or "The Traveler".  Now these three are the furthest along of the tons of stories I have.   Face is in fact half the size of the book I have set aside for a bit.   All three are good stories, all three have great hooks and all three are in that limbo place that works longer than 30 pages have with me.  I get stuck and then I have to decide if I can pull them together and work on them.  Now of course I could go back to "The Battle of the Star Beast", that story is almost as long as Face.  So urban fantasy, true fantasy, science fiction or science fantasy.  So hard!  I should put up bits and see what people say I guess.

Well I am gonna be lazy and watch XMen now.  It is a good movie and fun.  I need some good relaxing fun.

Distance Means Little to Love at OneTrueMedia.com

book trailer for the erotic short story collection Distance Means Little to Love

Mommy porn

Yeah I know but it does sell.  So far over 200 downloads of Distance Means Little to Love...course these are free promo downloads.  Lets see if word of mouth will move out a few paid copies.  Would be nice.  Yes I have seven sales of my real work.  My fun fiction that has no sex in it but I will take sales of any of my words right now.

If I get feedback than I can put up the dozen other erotic tales I have.  Now i could put them up like I have the other short stories.  Charging 99 cents each and like one writer told me put in lots of nasty words in the titles and tags.  I'm trying not to pander but well I want people to read my work.

Guess I should just get my butt in gear and finish up a few more covers, trailers and stories, then post them up.  Still not seeing any movement on Kobo, Smashwords or anything other than Amazon.  People may complain about them but I get a good royalty rate and I get a report that lets me know I am selling and better yet a way to advertise.  Why the other places don't have a way to help you move stuff I don't know.  I love that I am on so many different sources but what is the use of being on ITunes if you don't have a clue if you have sold a copy or not?

Well work to do

Morning world

Since I decided to take off yesterday and not work on my books I am actually feeling pretty good today.  Read one of the books I was behind on and it wasn't an ebook from one of my indie author homeboys and girls. While I am more than happy to support them, read them and review them sometimes I just want to read one of the big name authors I love so much.

Now I had planned on sitting down and reading Cold Days by Jim Butcher but as readers know the book got delayed till November!  Which is an ouchie for those of us who ADORE Dresden files.  Best series ever!

But that was okay I am seriously behind on a lot of books thanks to the lack of MONEY in our house.  So I splurged and got Born in Silence by Sherrilyn Kenyon.  I love all of her work, have for a while now.  The mix of dark brooding heroes that are damaged.  The not spectacularly beautiful heroines and the trials they go through are my cup of tea.  Okay I try to write as well as she does but I am a faint copy after all.

This book as always caught my attention from the get go.  I sat down at the mall and started to read, blissfully ignoring the people walking by.  I got to do this since my sweet hubby took our rambunctious monster to the near by toy store and left me alone for a good half hour 45 minutes.  Okay I didn't finish it there and I had to wait till the next morning to pick it back up but once I did I settled in with a pot of cinnamon tea and read for the entire morning.  Loved the ups and downs, the mistakes, the prejudice and the redemption that abounds in her work.  Another keeper to be added to my bookshelf and savored over and over again.  All in all my day off from being the author/artist/video graphic artist, publicist, etc was good.  Finished my book, played some Mindcraft and cooked.  Just had a good day.

Now back to my regularly scheduled messes of writing, making covers, trailers, cooking, laundry, cleaning and answering the ever present, Mommy I'm bored can we go for a walk/play a game?

Well at it again

Typed up yesterdays notes.  So much fun typing up the dialog for a four year old medium.  The way they say things is hard to replicate at an adult.  I can hear it but did I type it right?  Never know.

Chaos war book one is now over 30K words.  That is a lot of words for me and I have not got to the climatic battle yet.  Who knows how big this horse will be when I finish?  I sure don't but it has been fun.  All these fun little secondary characters just keep forcing themselves into my narrative.  Who would have thought of a four year old medium..really?

Okay time to pick up the pen and scribble more notes.  Don't know why this flows better from fingers to pen to keyboard but that is how this story is going.  I just might finish it if I pay attention!

Down into the depths

Okay working on Chaos War book one.  Have the heroes in danger (duh!) Need to get Gregory to where Jeffery is losing his mind. Yeah take the guy in the story who has the most potential to destroy everything and then send him over the edge.  Fun times were had by all.

Yeah I know but if you are going to do an end of the world/beginning of a new one you have to destroy the old one.  And why destroy it with fire or bombs or aliens from above or disease?  Just let the things that go bump in the night loose from the collective unconscious.  Have one poor man who isn't even from this dimension have the ability to open the doors between there and here.  Now have him fall in love with a sweet woman and have her kidnapped by said monsters and dragged away into the dark underground...recipe for disaster!  Yes...but have an ace up your sleeve.  Have some one who just might be able to bring him back around in time to save the woman.  Or that is the idea after all.

Now I know I don't have a lot of readers over here yet so I can drop little spoilers like this.  Yeah the tale has been told before but not the way I do it.  Here is hoping I can get through this scene today so that I can work on the big rescue.  I want to get this book done writing by the end of the month.  Then the editing and other stuff can be done.

another friday or should I just go to bed

Yeah head has started up to go with the joint pain and I am thinking I should give in and lie down but I really want to write.  After all I have a roll on with Chaos war book one.  Characters are growing stronger and more interesting.  That is secondary characters.  I find that secondary characters can either be just there to fill a plot hole or they can be those side kicks that we all need and sympathize with.

So far my stories are not moving so fast.  I have a few sales and a wee bit more downloads.  Having them move out would be so nice.  After all sales is the reason we do that right?

okay I cant think well enough to write a decent blog tonight.  I will try again tomorrow.

Looking for a title

Well the stories are edited. now I just have to work on the bridging bits and a title.  The bridging shouldn't be too hard.  Most of these stories while erotic are almost sweet.  Two lovers separated by distance coming together from time to time.  I think I am going to go with the title Distance Means Little to Love.  Should work.  I have stuff that is more erotic but well lets see how this works.

So we have a title, we have six tales, we need some words to bridge, then a cover.  Not sure I should do a trailer for this one though.  That might be too much...hey I could probably add a few of my poems to this too.  After all they deal with separations like my characters have.  Here is hoping it gets some small attention.

Write, write and write some more..then edit

Yup doing just that.  A Watery Grave is moving along and might be done today if I can decide a couple things through the building headache.  I am not sure if it is the focus, the kids in the background or the weather but darn it all i am going to finish this one up.  I need to move forward with other long awaited stories, really I do.

Endings is up on Amazon now, as is Sacrifice.  Endings being on another site will never be a free download but Sacrifice I have set up to be free Tuesday.  Here is hoping I get some movement and a review or two out of it.  Ice finished up a respectable 179 downloads.  Can't argue with that now can I?  Okay a few more sales would be nice but hey two actual paid for sales?  It is a start right?

Got the cover fixed on Sacrifice too.  I know the story is set in a dark place but I guess having it on my cover was not a good idea.  Figures.  When I finish up A Watery Grave I will have to do a pretty cover.  Now to do that I need those photos my daughter said she would take for me.  After all if you are going to have a real place in the story why not have a photo of the real place right?  Could be interesting.  If it gets any movement that is.  Hope Everlasting has not moved at all.  Now that surrpised me.  One More All Hallows had respectable downloads...yeah mostly free but I thought that would have led people to trying out the second story.  It isn't priced too bad either.  Well I will put it on free for a day when I put up A Watery Grave.

Okay time to go back to deciding just how Harry et all will defeat the Mari-morgens and keep Sandy Pond a safe place for fishermen and kids.

trying to work through the pain

Okay I'm not sick like a lot of people in pain.  I just have a bad sinus headache.  Any of you who have had them understand.  You try to concentrate and all you can do is wince.  I got some writing done, blogged a bit and answered questions on discussion groups.  Made some tarts for dinner tonight and started up the sweet potatoes for my killer SP rolls.

Now to come up with title ideas for the erotica stories.  Yes I will publish the 20 odd I don't think are too porn.  They need some editing to make them better and then I think if I group them into five books of 4 stories each they can be sold.  Coming up with titles.  My downfall.  Now I like Pleasant moments, Naughty Interludes, Nasty intimacies and what ever I can figure out.

Heck I could do a book or a dozen of my poems.  Heart's desires, Soul's Torment, etc etc.  They might sell, they might not. Okay my mind is coming up with title ideas all of a sudden.  The title of one of my blog pages, Windows of my mind...but who knows.  Flowers of a city field?  Who knows.

Rain is here today

Yes we are actually getting rain and are mostly happy for it.  Okay yeah having my hubby have to walk home in it isnt good but we need the water obviously.  Heck was all know that the North American continent needs water.  The whole thing is mostly in drought.  So let it rain..I dont mind.

Blogging, writing, reading and cooking.  Trying to do so many things at the same time.  Need to settle a bit I think.  Had fun making those yummy muffins.  And I am just gonna have to work on putting my recipes together.  If I can get a good little book together who knows?  It might do better than the fiction.  Though really I want to be known for my fiction.  After all I have been working for so long on most of these tales.

The erotic fiction now that might be interesting.  I have 20 stories currently that would be worth putting in collections.  They aren't the wilder of my stories, almost sweet really if sex could be called sweet.  Trying to figure out what to do.  It is popular right now.  Do I want to jump on a bandwagon just because it is popular?  Can I actually put those tales into print?  Should I use a pen name?  Not sure.  I will have to mull it over.

And better yet what should I call them?  Coming up with titles for my series are hard enough but to come up with titles for erotica that don't sound tacky, harder.  Then there is what should I do for the covers?  I will figure it out soon enough but for now I just want to figure out how to get my other works noticed by readers.

The free downloads tend to top out around 130 copies.  Of those I have gotten a total of nine reviews.  And I seem to get about a sale or two.  Yeah that is all so far.  Now I have only been selling my stories since May so I can't say I am doing horrible.  In this world of instant gratification being n author is still slow.  Very slow.  People have to find you, then decide they want to buy/download your words, then read them, then they might comment.

I am happy with the comments I have gotten.  Even those that are not uber positive.  Nice that I have gotten some though.

Okay time to work.  Harry is being good at the moment and talking to me.  Seems this little tale needs to be concluded.  Here is hoping it will be by the end of the month like I planned.  After all I should probably move on and finish up Destiny's story, she has waited a while for her story to be told.  Yeah those are characters folks and yes they need their stories told.

Morning sunshine all around

Well been a busy morning.  Lots of nice people giving us condolences on our loss.  As nice as it is I would rather we still had Stephen in our lives but these things happen.

The day is cooler thankfully.  Which made running to the store (okay walking we all know lisa cant run) to get the cocoa.  Gotta make the brownies soon.

Now writing wise it was cool to see this this morning:

http://bestindiebooks.com/great-indie-books/show-books/132/Gates/Short-Stories/

This is a site that advertizes indie author's books.  Now since I got in on the beta test my book is advertised for free.  Not huge when it is just links through to my amazon book but hey it is a start right?  Now if we can get those who link through to actually buy the book I would be happy.

And it is a great deal after all.  The kindle copy, which is where the link goes, is a great deal.  99 cents for six awesome short stories.  How can you beat that right?

Well back to making another poem video.  Since getting Harry to tell me his story isn't working so well today I figured I have other avenues of expression.  Yeah I could move to Destiny's story or more of Loralil's tales but I want to put my poems out for reading too.

whoops forgot this isn't connected

Yeah silly me..I forgot I need to post on all my blogs, not just one.  Been so busy making book covers and book trailers, poem videos and well just plain writing.  So I will babble for a little here.  Yeah I have been posting stuff up on Amazon.  Got Echoes of Elder Times started and Guardian of the Gate City and of course Death Walks through.  All three series in the faces of those who are willing to read SHORT fiction over the overly long if well written novels out there.  I write short..we all know that.  Or those crazy people who read my stuff do.

Just put Ending, book one of the Saga of Loralil Greyfox up on Kobo.  Should take a couple of days for complete processing.  Now that one is a bit more pricey than my other stuff.  Being a complete (to me) novel I put it up for $3.99.  My Novella, The Knight Protector I had put up on Smashwords and Amazon at $2.99 and the short stories vary, either being 99 cents or $1.99 if they are longer.  So I am slowly taking over.  Not really but I am publishing.

I have had one sale of the paperback, and so far one sale of Partings, one of One More All Hallows Eve, One of Ice and one of Passing the Torch.  Too bad Night and Day hasn't seen movement since the free offering.  No one has bought it.

I have reviews and that is cool.

Partings has three, One More All Hallows has four, Night and Day has one and Passing the Torch has one.  Nothing so far on reviews for Knight Protector, Gates, Hope Everlasting or Ice.  Course Ice has only been up for about two days so I don't expect that one to have reviews as of yet.

I have been getting views on my book trailers and poem videos.  Even got a comment from one person.  So I guess that is a start.

Now it is too hot to stay here in front of my machine.  Time for a cold drink.

Leaves at OneTrueMedia.com

a video made of my poetry and photographs set to music...an experiment

Music is my muse

Well we all know music will invoke feelings and sometimes images.  In my head it invokes complete scenes.  Some of them are light and funny (okay not as many as it should) but a lot can be dark...like this bit inspired by Man's Roads, song by America in the movie Last Unicorn.

The horizon moved up as she walked, the dawn was lightening the sky slowly from purple.  Stopping she scanned the sky, watching the eagle glide through the air, she sighed and turned her eyes down to  the dust demon skittering across the road.  Starting forward again she wrapped her arms around herself and plodded along.

Everything seemed so grey, dusty and lonely.  Walking was all she could do.  Following the road that man had made in this empty waste.  There was nothing to either side, no building to offer shelter so she kept moving.

The day slowly moved forward and still there was little to break the horizon.  The call of the eagle drifted down to her, urging her to keep going but she was so hungry, so thirsty.  It was hard.

Eyes nearly closed, she followed the black ribbon that slowly rose in the distance.  Briefly as the eagle circled she looked up and could see a building in the distance.  Her heart lifted and she picked up her plodding pace.  As she drew nearer she sighed.  It was a ruin, like all the others she had seen on her long walk.  Moving closer she decided to move toward it.

As she stepped on the weed covered pathway toward the house the eagle swooped down and cried out harshly at her, beating her away from the possible shelter.  The cry startled her and brought her from her daze long enough to see the sign posted.  The skull on top of the fence post and the remains of some animal that had entered the yard.  Shuddering she moved back to her path along the road and kept moving.  The blight had obviously hit here too.  There was no shelter to be found along this stretch of road.

She kept moving till the moon rose and then slowly stopped.  The eagle had come to rest on a bright spot of color.  A tree that had somehow survived the blight.  She tilted her head up to look at her companion.  The great golden bird, nodded and nipped free a fruit that hung from the branches.

Finding energy she didn’t know she had, she moved forward and caught the fruit.  Studying it, she reveled in the feel of the firm bright flesh.  It was not rotten or withered as far as she could tell.  She brought it to her nose and carefully inhaled.

The sweet scent of apple filled her head.  A scent she barely remembered.  It had been so long since she had seen apples.  It brought with it vague memories of life before the barrenness, before the hunger and thirst.

Gingerly she took a bite.  Juice filled her parched mouth and she softly moaned.  She more sucked the juice from the flesh than chewed it but sooner than she hoped she was down to just the seeds.  These she slid into a pocket and looked up again.  The eagle nodded and dropped another down.  Slowly she filled her belly with the first food that she could remember in days.  Soon she was filled and found fatigue overcoming her.

She curled up in a hollow between the tree’s roots and let sleep take her, safe in the knowledge that her winged companion would rouse her if anything approached.

Dark yes.  Interesting?  I think so.  Not sure where I will go with this one but it was there begging to be written.

Old poems and free kindles

Well yesterday before the day made me too queasy to work I was sorting through my old poetry.  Now some of them will lend nicely to the photographs I have taken over the past two years.  Others, not so much.  Some of them are actually not bad and others are whiny and I think I should just delete them.  But that is the thing.  I don't delete my work because someday they just might find a new home somewhere.  A bad poem could easily be worked into a story that would then be part of a collection right?  My work may not have more than a handful of people I don't know reading it but you never know.  Those who actually stop and read it seem to like the odd way I tell things.

Being depressed way back when did lead to some turns of phrase that could lead to interesting romance story ideas...if I actually wrote romances.  Yeah I had two guys take one of my ghost stories as a gothic romance but most don't see that.  Most see the character driven stuff I do, the odd imagery.

Well I put one more of my stories up for free.  Like I said on my other blog, it hasn't moved yet but well it is still early, on a Sunday no less.  Yeah some of the people who actually read my words are in Europe but most are in Canada and the US and well Sundays they sleep in.  Never mind today is officially a holiday here.

It is quiet, which is good.  I like quiet, means I can write and not have people calling or knocking on the door looking for Kaylan and hammering away at whatever it is my neighbor is building or yelling at the dog to come back.  Yeah it can get noisy here.

I think I am gonna try to go take some photos of nature again today but try to go someplace that isn't the stream across the street.  I have so many really nice pics of over there but really nothing else right now.  I need images from different angles and areas of the creek.  It is a nice cool and comfy place for sure.  Wish I was more flexible than I am now.  It is tricky walking along the paths as they go up and down and not feel my ankles complaining or wobbling.  It would be more than embarassing to hurt myself on Canada day again.  I know Fox doesn't want me to go anywhere because of that accident two years ago.

Okay time to do something else.  Something creative.

Finding yourself on the web

Okay this is so weird and cool at the same time.  I am now all over the web, again.  In the old days it was the silly websites I put together for fanfiction and poetry and my drawings.  Now it is my actual published work.  I enjoyed it in the old days but now...now it fills in a part of yourself that you didn't know you had.

I am showing up on places like ITunes, Versent Books, Inktera and of course my publishers site.  Now the more places I show up the more chance that someone will actually decide to buy my work.  While the paperback over on Amazon is pretty pricy, the Ebook copy on Itunes is very affordable at 99 cents.  So I am hoping...really really hoping that soon I will see some movement.

I have even posted Gates up on Craig s list and Kijiji.  Now it felt weird putting my book up on those sites but it needs to be done right?  I am right now just sitting here trying to decide if I should put Knight Protector up on those two sites.  It is a novella and a fun one in my opinion.  Course I wrote it so my opinion isn't necessarily unbiased right?

Okay back to writing and reading and trying to think of other ways to get the nice people out there to actually pick up my words and reading them.

writing time

Well now that I have gotten some reviews it is time to work.  Hope Everlasting is moving along.  Not as fast as I would like but that is how it is when I work.  I have to do some bridging scenes.  I know what will happen once the hero meets the villain but getting the hero to the villain is the long part.  After all you cant have them just meet face to face without some trouble.  While this villain isnt as bad as some of the others I have written, he is still a villain.  He wants something for nothing, wants something he thinks he can take that he doesn't deserve.

Should be fun.  So should I put someone behind the scenes pulling his strings.  It would be interesting and hopefully not too cliche.  I am trying to avoid those nasty cliches.

farming the web for reviews.

Okay part of being a writer is finding readers right?  So if they won't come to you, you have to go to them.  Luckily there are people on the groups I have joined in the past two months who are interested in reviewing.  Now I don't expect a glowing, OMG review, just a review to show people are reading my work.  So I am going to try a few out.

Shelfari has been interesting.  It has let me review some of the god awful pile of books I have read over the years.  So lets see what happens.

Found a new place to play called Waatpad.  They have people who design bookcovers for free and book trailers.  Now I can do my own trailers.  Now if I could just feel like I am doing better covers.  Well we will see how this goes.

Time to work.

Sun shiny day

Sun is shining and my mood is sooo much better.  Your writer here is thinking that it might be time to try other forms of expression.  Yeah I write, god do I write.  My sotries are all jumbled up in my head and poems only come out during my dark times.  I should have written poetry yesterday.  My camera gets a work out as nature opens her arms to us.  The sun on a leaf, a bug settling down on a branch or a frog hopping in the water.  Okay now I want to go take more photos.  Maybe I should but I started this cause I have been thinking about painting.

Now I have never been the best at the visual arts.  I have some stuff up over on Elfwood.  Drawn ages ago, when my kids were little and I still had art supplies that were mine and only mine.  I feel the need from time to time to draw and well I no longer have the supplies.  I would love a nice sketch pad that I wouldn't have to share with my youngest.  On a nice warm morning I could go over to the stream and okay work my way down to the ground and just sketch nature.  Maybe make pictures with faeries and unicorns and dragons in the nature around me.  I may not be as good as many of my friends but at one time I had a good eye and the ability to draw.  Do I still have it?  Good question.  While baking and crocheting give me an outlet for more tactile expressions of my soul they aren't the same are they?

And something new I want to try is painting.  The dollar stores here have stretched canvas and paints and brushes really cheap.  I have been tossing this about in my mind for months now.  It wouldn't be too expensive this way.  After all a canvas for a buck or two, paints for the same and a bunch of brushes.  Why not?  Yeah we have water color paints and my hubby's paints but I don't want to use his good stuff for what might just be junk.

Should I do it?  Anyone got an opinion?  Anyone reading these posts?

The Legend lives one

Okay so the opening line of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald should be used for a super hero film.  The song now should be a movie.  I know it has inspired me to write another tale.  Okay start to write.  Somehow I think Harry might like it better if I finish Hope Everlasting first.  I had started a short fic about the 30th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald but now that I am working with Harry more I think I need to change the story.  Harry is a great character but having him over by Detroit would be weird.  He is the Guardian of Nashua.  Hmmm...maybe I could change the story and had the wreck happen here on the big lake.  Georgian bay I am sure has some history with ship wrecks.  Heck the bay is huge, even if it isnt on one of big lakes it is still on a LARGE lake.  Lake Simcoe in fact.  I should get my new friends (and old) here in my new hometown to give me some history so I can come up with tales.  Stories of urban myths and legends set in this small Canadian city that is so like Nashua.

Inspiration...it strikes hard when it does.  Gotta love it.  Love how music can lead to words and words to music.  The grand circle of life.

Sound tracks of my mind

Now anyone who knows me knows that I tend to listen to a lot of music.  Weird, contemporary, pop, country, just music.  Songs tend to spring ideas into the fertile ground known as my imagination.

But once an idea is started sometimes I have to find the songs that will continue the tale.  Right now there is a Gregorian chant playing in the background.  While good for some things, not sure it will work on Harry.  He is a bit more a good old bluegrassy boy.  Not a gun weilding, I have the right to shoot you for just being in the wrong place knid.  More the life gave me a ton of lemons, drowning in lemonaid type.

But hey he has a sense of humor for sure.  And a sense of right and wrong.  What else can you ask for in a guardian and hero right?  So I think this next son, Eyes of a Child fits his new job.  Finding the kidnapped child of two eternals.

This should be fun.

Barnes and Noble

Well looks like I will now be found over on Barnes and Noble, along with Amazon.  Gates just showed up there at a little less than the Amazon price.  I don't mind the reduction, after all it is a little pricey for a paperback.  And as I have been approved by Smashwords for their premium catalog, we should be seeing Knight Protector over there soon.  Can't wait to see what reaction this has.

Here is the opening of the newest story I am working on.  It is called Hope Everlasting and is set in the world of One More All Hallows Eve.  I like Harry.  He is not a rip off of Harry Dresden.  I wrote All Hallows years before I read the Dresden Files.  So here goes.  Hope who ever is reading this has an opinion on this one.

It was still dark when I came out of Undercity but it was lighter than it was below.  I could hear them though before I saw them.  Two large, horrible smells were blocking the alley that led back to my car.  I sighed, preparing to step back when I heard a soft cry.  Normally I ignored the occasional mugging by the street trash on each other but something about that cry made me step forward.
As I got closer I saw two of the least savory creatures that dwelled in Undercity.  They had backed a woman into a corner between the crumbling building on the right and a rusted out dumpster on the left.  They were tall, even half stooped over as they terrorized the much smaller human before them.  "HE says bring the shiny one, we bring."  The one on the left said in a voice that went past gravelly to stone on stone grinding.  Definitely a troll with his ugly cousin, a pair I recognized.  A pair of two bit thugs who hired out to the one with the most meat.  Yes meat.  It was hard in these modern times to find a good meal when you weren't near a stockyards.

****

Yeah told as a first person.  I have a few of them and I tend to set them in my old home town of Nashua, NH.  If any of you know Nashua, you will recognize the streets.  I have changed things of course.

Now back to writing fiction!
